Experiments in 3D Printing #008.375: Little Devil

Little Devil Subdivformer model

First small scale print
I like to create small things. I think it's the minutia of life that makes everyone's experience unique. Scribbles, sketches and shapes. [This post!] There's something about the intimacy of a tiny object that you can hold in your hands to marvel at it's form on a personal level. So, my first attempt to print this model was to go micro scale. And that one did not turn out. SO, I scaled it up a bit. While it did increase the level of detail, it still was just not as discernible of an object as I was looking for...

Second medium scale print

So, I scaled it up a third time and
this one turned out to be within the
Goldilocks Zone of detail and scale...

I've always loved creating things. Making something from nothing fills my innards with an immeasurable joy. So, when I found a fun little 3D modeling Android app called Subdivformer I was intrigued. It quickly became my "Bubble Witch" or "Facebook" time sync, doodle pad. About a year ago my hetero life mate gifted me a 3D printer for Wookiee life day. Initially I was skeptical that I would have the technical wherewithal to figure it out. As it turns out, while challenging to create a "print", it's totally worth it! I've not had a lot of finished printed success. But, I've had a few that I think turned out all right.

This little devil is one experiment that, I like to think, turned out a minor success.

Beyond the Phlogiston

THE CITADEL on astronomical object at 09h 50m 57  −56° 26′ orbiting planetesimals in the Northern Local Supervoid which separates the Northern Local Void from the Boötes Void

Inhabited by a host of whatever species can subsist within the limited atmosphere of the gas pocket left by the dead planet detritus and automated systems whose only directive is to identify and exploit whatever resources discovered. The Citadel predates the exploratory adventurers who now inhabit it.

I managed to make it out to see the legendary psychedelic beast himself ROKY ERICKSON. Solid performance the last night of a looong tour after braving the riot ravaged and fire drenched streets of St' Louis.

The Evil One in action!

LEVITATION

Kansas City Chalk Walk 2017

I had the pleasure of filling an 8'x10' space with particulated pigments of various hues a couple weeks ago. Here are the results:

I should probably post more posts.

In an attempt to harness the transformative properties of Autumn I've been looking for an outlet to channel my creative endeavors through. Low and behold I just so happen to have a blog that good old big bro Googles provides me. I solemnly swear to make a habit of this place and trickle out some goodies from the past... present... and FUTURE in the weeks and months to come. So it is written so shall it be done.

I ain't handin' you no jive.
